Background

At One Island Media we believe in the power of education to transform lives. Throughout the years we have had the great opportunity to work with academic institutions and non-profit organizations across Vancouver Island and British Columbia to help grow and expand our knowledge networks. Using our understanding of the education system and our capacity as storytellers we hope to bring the inspiring stories being created in these communities to the rest of the world.

Background

While situated in Port Alberni, BC (traditional territories of the Hupacasath and Tseshaht First Nations), One Island Media has had the incredible opportunity to work with community groups from all over the world. Here on Vancouver Island, BC we have had the great privilege to work with countless Indigenous communities and play a small role in the decolonization process. Internationally we have created documentary films in the Phillipines, Taiwan, Japan, Ecuador and throughout Europe.

Background

Chief Seattle famously said “we do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.” This has particular resonance for our team and drives us to work tirelessly alongside amazing organizations to use video & digital media as a tool to not only educate but inspire change across all levels of society.
